Department of Electronics

Introduction

Department of Electronics, started way back in 1995 under the special assistance of UGC for thrust areas of science and Engineering, has carved a place of its own in Mangalore University and in the Karnataka region as a department of excellence. With our syllabi of many programmes carved out for industry needs, the department is all set to be the destination of aspirants in the fields of Electronics, Embedded Systems, Internet of Things, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Blockchain, Cloud Technologies, Digital Skills, Digital Marketing, Intellectual Property and many more. That is what the Board of Studies of June 2020 set out for us, to be the leader in all the leading technological and digital skills needed in the competitive job market today. Along with our initiations to align with Industry leaders and partners like IBM, NCS, NASSCOM, Entuple Technologies, RDL Technologies, CyberSapens, MDNL, TechSages, Intellocopia the department has taken giant leaps to reach the aspirants outside the department in the form of central facilities on IoT and cloud based systems and an Incubation Centre.

The department, which started with the M.Sc. programme in Electronics, has M.Sc. in Cybersecurity programme which has made its debut with a bang, in 2020, among its feathers of achievements. With the five years Integrated M.Sc. programme in Electronics and one year add-on PG diploma in Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking, at the end of the execution pipeline, the department is all set to deliver on its promises. The department is also the driving force behind the initiation of B.Sc. stream in Embedded Systems which is ready for implementation, and B.Sc. stream in Cyber Security which is in the drawing room.  If everything goes well, the department is all set to start M.Sc. and PG Diploma programmes in Embedded Systems, Internet of Things, Data Science, Data Analytics, Big Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Block chain, Cloud Technologies, Digital Skills, Digital Marketing, Intellectual Property and many more, and most importantly open the doors of technologies and the future to non-science aspirants, in the coming years. With all these pilot projects, the department is raising up to the expectations and the inspirations of National Education Policy -2020.

The department is striding in the research and development front as well, with many faculties and research scholars engaged in many research projects with many leading universities and institutions. Our professors have been invited as keynote speakers in many national and international conferences and they also organized notable national/international workshops in the department.
