Facilities

The Department has a modest Language Laboratory with 14 computers, which are used to support the teaching programme, particularly the language papers, for our students. The Department also has a number of teaching aids, including  LCD Projector, Blue Ray Projector, LED TV, EyeRis, Sony C.D. Player, Electronic Podium, etc.

Over the years, the Department has organized several annual ELT workshops and 5

The Department hosted a three-day National Seminar on “Political Ideologies and Fiction” in Otober 1988. The Seminar was inaugurated by Mr Bhisham Sahni, the noted writer in Hindi and author of Tamas.  A number of noted scholars participated in the Workshop, including Prof. Shanthinath Desai, Dr B. Damodar Rao, Dr D. R. Nagaraj, Dr C. P. Ravichandra, Dr Harish Trivedi, Dr Ayyappa Panikkar, and others.

The Department organized a National Workshop on the theme “Engaging Priorities, Enabling Connections: India, Canada and the Way Forward”, on 1-2 March 2013. The Workshop was completely sponsored by the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute (4.18 lakhs) and there was no financial Commitment on the part of Mangalore University. Dr. Ravishankar Rao was the Director of the workshop.
