Sahyadri, Mangalore University to ink pact for research

Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management (SCEM), Adyar, will sign a memorandum of understanding with the Mangalore University and Karnataka Government Research Centre (KGRC), for collaborative research and development, education and training on Friday. The purpose of the MoU is to work together in areas of common interest in research and development in projects relevant to advanced materials for technology. 

The MoU will also look at nanotechnology of composite materials involving design and testing. Under the MoU, faculty of both the institutions can interact and develop a strong research community for research and development assignments, MS, MTech, PhD programs as well as short-term training and short-term courses. P S Yadapadithaya, registrar, Mangalore University, and C Ranganathaiah, director, KGRC and UM Bhushi, principal, Sahyadri College will sign the MoU. 

The scope of the partnership will include identifying methods and science/technology needs, formulate research and development projects collaboratively that address technology needs, and establish arrangements that describe how personnel and resources of KGRC/MU will utilized to perform R&D projects addressing these needs such as projects involving marine technology image processing and computer vision, materials characterization, electronics, and so on. 

K Byrappa, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University and Manjunath Bhandary, chairman, Bhandary Foundation will be present.
