Day Care Centre

 

Following the guidelines of University Grants Commission's X plan a Day Care Centre facility is provided on payment basis for children of around two years to six years, of age, when their parents (University employees/students) are away from home during day. It includes male employees/scholars/students also whose wives are working elsewhere. The scheme mainly helps the women and working parents for pursuing their academic career.

The Day Care Center started with 2 children on 13th July 2009 in one of classrooms of Vishwamangala Higher Primary School with the kind co-operation of Vishwamangala Education Society headed by the President Prof. P.Pakkerrappa. The new spacious building for Day Care Center which is constructed in the premises of Vishwamangala Higher Primary School was inaugurated on 21st January 2012, by Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. T.C.Shivashankaramurthy. Now the Day Care Center is functioning in its new building with around 15 children, a Coordinator and two staff members, a Care Taker and Ayya who look after the preschoolers for full day or half day depending on the requirements of the parents. In addition, few of the primary school children of Vishwamanagala Higher Primary School are also looked after from 3.45 pm to 5.30 pm.

The Day Care Centre is located in safe place away from hazards such as traffic, staircases and lifts. It provides a child-friendly environment with colorful displays, play materials, black board, a television and DVD player. Children can take and play on his/her own, besides the guided activity like prayer, action songs and stories.
