Facilities

The Department has well equipped laboratories which include Tissue Culture lab, Microbial culture lab, Botanical gardens, Green house. An Arboretum of 2.5 hectares has been established in the University Campus which contains endemic, rare and threatened plants of the Western Ghats. The arboretum is used as a training centre in environmental awareness for students and general public. Computer networking facility with internet is also available in the Department.

The Department possesses major equipment like Double beam Spectrophotometer, Binocular Research Microscope with computerized photographic attachment, Binocular stereomicroscope with photographic attachment, Plant Water Status Console, Plant Efficiency Analyser complete with accessories, Binocular inverted Microscope, Freeze dryer, Plant  Growth  cabinets, seed germinators, Thermal cycler, Cooling Centrifuge, Gel Documentation System, Water Activity Meter, ELISA Microplate Reader, Vaccum Concentrator, Computer with accessories.
