About the Department

The Department of Business Administration with a vision to impart qualitative management education to young graduates in tourism started a Two-Year Four-Semester Full Time MBA (Tourism Administration) programme in the year 2001.

The program is catering to the burgeoning Travel, Tourism, and Cargo industry. The primary objective of the course is to prepare a cadre of well informed, pro-active, and high calibre professionals to be unleashed on the mushrooming, multi-dimensional Travel, Tourism, and Cargo industry.  The students are selected through an Entrance Test conducted by the University.

The program comprises of 27 papers including Viva Voce examination and project from core and functional areas with emphasis on Travel Agency Operations and Management, Airline and Cargo Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management, Event Management, Communicative Skills for Hospitality, Transportation and Accommadation Management, Information Technology for Toursim,  Tourism Geography and Hotel Management, besides other functional areas. The academic performances of the students are continuously evaluated through a set of formal and informal methods involving cumulative tests, case discussions and class presentations. The International Air Ticketing and CRS paper is based on IATA, UFTAA standard with  advanced course curriculum.

During the program, the students are thoroughly grounded in theory and are effectively exposed to practical training through Research/Industry Projects undertaken from the industry. Besides the curriculum, special guest lectures by eminent persons from the travel &tourism industry are also arranged. With an intention to give opportunity to students to interact with the industry and get accustomed to present trends, Summer Training is arranged in reputed organizations.
