Research Programmes:

Ph.D.

  • 3year (renewable) Ph.D. programme.
  • 1 Semester course work during Ph.D.
  • Course work includes study of research methodology, core subject papers and each specialized research area.

Nature & type of research:

  • The nature of research has been both theoretical research and applied research, surveys etc. The faculty and the research scholars are continuously engaged in research and publications. Research is being conducted in the areas of E-resources, Knowledge Organization, Information Services, Impact of Automation on Library and Information Systems and Services, Internet and Libraries, User Studies, Information seeking behavior, Evaluation Studies, Bibliometrics studies, Informetric studies etc.
  • The Department has produced so far 34 (thirty four) Ph.D. doctorates awarded successfully in different areas of Library and Information Science. Further, there are 38 (thirty eight) research scholars doing research for the degree of Doctorate Ph.D. in Library and Information Science under the supervision of different guides. The department has 03 (three) full time staff recognized as Research Guides. Besides, the department has recognized 03 (three) university library staff members as research guides in Library and Information Science.
