Physical Education
Introduction
The Directorate of Physical Education was established in the year 1985 with the aim of providing opportunities for youth to participate and excel in sports and physical education and thereby open up the avenues for representing the state, country and also for securing jobs.
In 1996, with the inception of its post graduate programme in physical education it expanded its functions to disseminate knowledge to hundreds of students who have passed through its portals.
The Physical Education programmes started with the Master of Physical Education and Sports Degree (MPES) in 1996.
The MPES was then converted into Master of Physical Education (MPEd) in 2005 to make it uniform with the Physical Education Degrees in the state. Since the advent of the Post Graduate Department, hundreds of post graduates have passed out of the Department and secured professional excellence. The Undergraduate and Postgraduate department is dedicated to produce quality physical education personnel in the form of physical education directors, coaches, fitness professionals and the like.
The research wing of the department conducts quality research in streams ranging from sports sociology in the humanities to physiological sciences in sports. All our programmes are geared to improve the employability of the students. If you are a sportsperson with a dedicated purpose towards enriching yourself with sports knowledge and improving the level of sports performance in areas around you, then this course will certainly help you in achieving your objective.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING YOU JOIN THE DEPARTMENT OF POST GRADUATE STUDIES IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION
