EXTENSION ACTIVITY V – 2018-19

6-7 April 2018 – National Seminar on Art and Culture of Coastal Karnataka in association with Lalit Kala Akademi, Bengaluru

The N.G.Pavanje Chair in Fine Arts organised a National Seminar on “Art and Cultural Heritage of Coastal Karnataka and Evolution of Modern Art in Coastal Districts of Karnataka” in association with the Karnataka Lalita Kala Academy, Bengaluru, on 6-7 April, 2018.

Ms. Anasuya Pavanje, donor of the chair and Formerly Secretary, Craft Council of Karnataka, inaugurated the Seminar.The Concept Note was presented by Prof. M.J.Kamalakshi, Chairperson, Karnataka Lalita Kala Academy.The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Pundikayi Ganapayya Bhat, Senior Researcher and Historian from Moodabidre.Shri P.S. Punchithaya, Senior Artist from Kalagrama, Kasaragodu, and Shri Ramesh Rao, Chairman, Artists Forum, Udupi were the Guests of Honour. Prof. Ramdas Adyanthaya, former Dean, CAVA, Mysore, delivered the Valedictory Address.The 2 –day Seminar featured several resource persons on Art, who spoke on relevant topics:

The 2 day Seminar also featured an Exhibition of books on art, and an Exhibition of Paintings by Young Artists of the Region.

The Seminar held at attracted a large number of students from art schools, affiliated colleges, constituent colleges, PG Departments, and art teachers and senior artists.  109 delegates  took part in the National Seminar.
