Dr. I.R.N. Goudar, after completing his B.Sc in Physics and M.Sc. in Human Physiology did his Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Karnataka University. He also obtained Associateship in Documentation and Information Science from DRTC/Indian Statistical Institute and his PhD in 'Library and Information Science' from Karnataka University.
