Facilities
The Department has well equipped laboratories which include Cell and Tissue Culture, Microbial culture lab, Botanical gardens and Green house, Medicinal plant garden etc. An Arboretum of about 2.5 hactares has been established in the University Campus which contains endemic, rare, endangered and threatened (RET) plants of the Western Ghats. The arboretum is used as a training centre in environmental awareness for youths and training on eco friendly agriculture methods for farmers. Computer networking facility with internet is also available in the Department

The Department possesses major equipments like Double beam Spectrophotometer, Binocular Research Microscope with computerized photographic attachment, Binocular stereomicroscope with photographic attachment, Plant Water Status Console, Plant Efficiency Analyser, complete with accessories, Binocular inverted Microscope, Freeze dryer, Plant Growth cabinets, seed germinators, Thermal cycler, Cyclotec sample mill, Cooling Centrifuge, Gel Documentation System, Water Activity Meter, ELISA Microplate Reader, Vaccum Concentrator, Co2 Incubator, Biosafety cabinets, Computer with accessories etc.
