Facilities available in the Department

The department offers adequate space for teaching and research activities, laboratories, essential equipment, well-furnished class rooms, seminar halls, and computer facilities with Wi-Fi connectivity. Adequate library books and journals are made available to the students and scholars. The department has microbial culture collection unit comprising Bacterial, Fungal and Actinomycetes isolates. The department is focused and on the process towards establishment of advanced Microbial research in the specialized fields of research. The department has supported the establishment of Molecular Research laboratory under the SERB Govt. of India and also from Vision group of Science and Technology, Govt. of Karnataka. The faculties have obtained eligibility to efficiently supervise the PhD research scholars in their respective areas of specialization. Along with the PG student’s well equipped classrooms, there is also separate classroom available for Ph. D coursework classes. All the above mentioned facilities are made available for Ph. D and open elective candidates.

There are separate Research laboratories equipped with continuous power backup for major equipments like -86 Ultra low freezer, CO₂ Incubator, Inverted Phase contrast Microscope provided with live cell imaging, type -2 Bio Safety cabinet are available to research scholars in Molecular and Cell culture research laboratory. Separate computer labs are available for PG and Research students for preparation of various academic and research activities.  The Department is having separate well equipped modular laboratories for both M. Sc and Ph.D programmes. Major equipments such as Double –beam/ Single beam UV spectrophotometer, High Speed Cooling centrifuge, two separate laminar air flow units. Sufficient Research microscopes are made available to the individual students. Along with these major equipments Autoclave, Hot-Air Oven, Incubator, Deep Freezer, Rotary Shaker, Microwave Oven, Digital pH meters, Digital colorimeters, Electronic weighing balance, Magnetic Stirrers, Cyclo – Mixer, Micrometer, Haemocytometer, both Vertical and Horizontal Electrophoresis units, Double Distillation Units, Digital water bath, Refrigerators, UV Chamber etc.. All these laboratories facilities are made available for M.Sc Programme. Sufficient Chemicals and glass wares, Plastic wares Consumables and other laboratory requisites provided to perform experiments to individual PG students. Laboratories are having spacious working area which is well furnished.
